Patricia Barber
Patricia Barber was born on November 8, 1955 in Chicago. Child of musical parents, her father was a member of the Glenn Miller band and her mother a blues singer. Her first LP "Split" was not a success, but her breakthrough came with Cafe Blue in 1994. Patrica suffers from asthma and was ill while writing Cafe Blue. Patricia Barber is a must for audiophiles.
Higher
Front row at a private concert by Patricia Barber, who wouldn't want that. Higher contains 12 titles spread over 2 LPs. The first track takes some getting used to when you have all of Barber's other LPs as well. Muse is intimate and perhaps different from what you are used to. On this LP you can enjoy from the first tones to the last. by Patricia but also by the great musicians who accompany her. Jim Gailloreto's tenor saxophone certainly appealed to me.
Rating
Hannibal said in The A-team: "I love it when a plan comes together". Everything comes together here. A more than great recording, Impex Records, Patricia Barber, an enormous detail, stage. Fun for audiophiles!
