Great women of song
All titles on this LP have been carefully chosen from the period between 1955 and 1959. All titles from the Decca era, which means that these titles form the foundation of her 50-year career. Classics by Porter, Gershwin and Hart. On one of the recordings we even hear Sammy Davis Jr. It can rightly be said that Carmen McRae is one of the great jazz artists who have made an enormous contribution to the development of jazz and the Great American Songbook.
Rating
Verve has delivered an excellent product with this reissue of titles around 1957, given the fact that we are listening to almost 70 year old recordings here. Even an originally 78 rpm edition.
Quite detailed and some stage, slightly varying per shot.
