Music in the original Marantz age
Recordings using the original 7.5 inch music tapes from the days of Julie London, Sarah Vaughan and the period when there was a lot of big band. Think of the Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra, Si Zenther and his dance band, but also a live recording of Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall, and not to forgot the Ames Brothers.

This STS production is a special story. Because of the quality of these 7.5 inch / second tapes, it was decided to use them for this LP. The original masters have been digitized using two tape recorders, an A-807-MKII and a Philips Pro 12. Via Siltech cables to a Marantz X-1000 for some extra shine in the recording. Then through the Weiss AD converter to make a digital DSD. WAV files were then created using a Tascam VD-R1000. The next step is the MW coding process to create the LP. The DSD master was sent to Pauler Acoustics to make the metal cutting master. The result is amazing. If you listen to these old recordings, you will notice the lack of distortion. According to Fritz de With, engineer and owner of STS Records; "it seems to sound to clinical to our ears". My idea, that's how an LP should sound, what a pleasure.
