Lils Mackintosh was born on June 11, 1955 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Lils Mackintosh is the daughter of guitarist Max Rene Valentino Mackintosh and a Dutch jazz and blues singer, composer, actress and writer. She is considered to be one of the most prominent artists in the genre. Mackintosh has worked with various artists such as Oscar Peterson, B.B. King, Scott Hamilton, Madeline Bell, Hans Dulfer, Candy Dulfer, and the Dutch Swing College Band.
A tribute to Billie Holiday
On this audiophile LP, Lils collaborates with Chris Monen (guitar), Eric Robaard (bass), Marcel Serierse (drum) and Jan Menu (tenor saxophone). The LP contains 11 well-known and delicious classics from the lady of the Blues. Drawn from a hard life of alcohol, drugs and abuse. Lils convincingly interprets Billie with her characteristic voice. Our favorite remains "God bless the child".
Review
Who doesn't know the test CDs from STS Digital with Lils Mackintosh's rendition of "My funny Valentine".
Every audiophile has had that once in the CD player. Now you can have the pleasure of hearing her ten times in the style and quality of STS Records. In addition to an abundance of detail and space, the tranquility is particularly striking. The voice and instruments sound so real and natural. Again, the original analog master tape was used and the Philips pro 12 analog 2 track - 7.5 inch / second recorder.
The recordings date from December 1992.
