Billy Joel
William Martin (Billy) Joel, pianist, singer-songwriter and composer. Inspired by classical music (Beethoven) but also Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck, The Stones, Otis Redding. A daughter from the second marriage is called Alexa Ray Joel and is named after Ray Charles. Born on May 9, 1949, Billy grew from piano playing piano bars to a super artist who has sold over 150 million records.
52nd street
52nd street is Joel's sixth studio album. Originally released in 1978. Recordings were made in the previous months at A&R Recordings on 52nd Street New York. His record label at the time was in the CBS building on 52nd street. Three titles of this LP have become hits. Honesty, Big Shot and My life.
Rating
Mobile Fidelity Sounds Labs used the original analog tapes. The mastering was done by Krieg Wunderlich on Mofi's Gain 2 Ultra Analog System. Plated and pressed on 180 gram high definition vinyl, 45 rpm. Limited edition.
