Epistrophy was recorded live in March 2016 in the intimate Village Vanguard in New York. In doing so, they rallied themselves with greats such as Miles Davis, Duke Ellington and Barbara Streisand, who were also allowed to perform in this Jazz club in Greenwich. Epistrophy is the second LP of the collaboration between two instruments and artists, Bill Frisell on guitar and Thomas Morgan on double bass. In addition to some songs from the Americana Songbook of this duo such as "All in fun" and "Save the last dance" they also interpret their own interpretations of "Mumbo Jumbo" by Paul Motian and the Frank Sinatra hit "In the wee small hours of the morning ". A successful audiophile recording in the atmosphere of ECM where the intimate space of the Village Vanguard is beautifully captured.
